About KABOM
KABOM is a day full of activity for anyone and everyone who wants to participate. The main goal for KABOM is to create a playful environment which invites people of all ages, ethnicity, and backgrounds. KABOM was hosted the first time in 2015, and has continued to grow every year since. KABOM´s goal is to create a day filled with joy and fun, which is what the word KABOM represents.
KABOM stands for: Competition, Activity, Contribution and Fun. Through outdoor games and activities, we aim to bring out people´s competitive instinct, enthusiasm, and joyfulness. Hopefully, a warm summer day in the heart of Oslo filled with games, laughter, music, and waffles is too good to turn down!
It is very easy to sign up for KABOM! A team consists of 4 members. If your team has a mix of age, gender, or ethnicity, you receive extra points. The way to receive extra points may change year to year, but this info will be available before hand in order to create the perfect team!
Background
Founder Lamin F. Coker created KABOM because he believes Oslo lacks an arena open to everyone. He explains the reason for creating KABOM as:
”We need an event which is open for all kinds of people. KABOM comes from the idea to unite people with different backgrounds, no matter where someone works, where they live, or how fortunate they are. We wish to create day where people can remember to have honest fun, and especially with people outside their usual social circles. KABOM is a great incentive to get people into physical activity outdoors, creating a fun environment without the need for alcohol or drugs.”
KABOM has for three years in a row taken place at Torshovparken. However, in 2018 KABOM will for the first time be held in Frognerparken, the biggest park in Oslo.
Whether it´s you first time or not does not matter, just save the date! KABOM will be held 16th of June in Frognerparken 2018
One important thing to remember it that there is no alcohol or drugs are allowed. Bring your friends and let´s have fun!
